In 1989-90 in cooperation with the McDonald’s Corporation, the Princeton Firefighters Local 466 constructed a fire safety house in which to teach children the proper way to exit their home in the event of a fire.  This valuable teaching tool has given us the ability to reach approximately 1500 to 2000 area children each year.  In 1999 we parked the safety house to do repairs to it.  We have planned to bring it back to service in the summer of 2000.  Princeton Firefighters Local 466 feel very strong about promoting fire safety to the above mentioned.  The safety house is just one of many teaching tools we use each year.

Enclosed in this web site are copies of fire safety information that we use in teaching fire safety from K-4 age range to our valued senior citizens of this community.  In 1999 Local 466 in conjunction with State Farm Insurance Group constructed a countywide fire safety campaign in the Mercer County School System.  During Fire Prevention Week in October we placed a program developed by the IAFF, State Farm Ins., and the National Association of Elementary School Principles in every elementary school in Mercer County.  This program promoted fire safety as a whole; by placing the program in the school system we were able to send the message of fire safety to thousands of children.

In November 1999 our members again showed their concern for the community at large by giving away 100 smoke detectors to area senior citizens 65 years and older.   These detectors were also installed for the seniors if needed.  As you can see the members of Princeton Firefighters Local 466 have been busy this past year!   My thanks go out to each member of this local for their support during this past year.  I look forward to the new millennium in which I anticipate us to be busier than ever.   Also a special thanks to Firefighter M.Doty for all the long hours he has put forth in constructing the web site for the local, for without him this would have not been possible.  Please feel free to browse the remaining pages and see for yourself that there is truly more to our jobs than just putting out fires.
